About this plant

Fine, finger-like leaves edged in cream, on a slender upright plant. The false aralia 'Bianca' (Plerandra elegantissima, also sold as Dizygotheca elegantissima) is a tropical evergreen shrub with narrow, serrated leaflets that give it an airy, almost lace-like texture. The cream edges on each leaf lift a dark corner. This page covers false aralia care for a bright room.

Why you'll like it

Nothing else in a typical collection looks quite like it. It is an elegant plant for a bright room, it grows slowly, and it makes a graceful accent next to broader-leaved plants. This is a young plant in a 3" pot, so you can grow it on as it gets bigger.

What you get

A live false aralia 'Bianca' in a 3" grower's nursery pot.

. Keep it warm, away from cold drafts, and add humidity if the leaf edges crisp.

Is false aralia hard to grow?
It is moderate. It is not difficult, but it dislikes drying out completely and dislikes being moved around. Steady light and even watering keep it happy.

Is false aralia an indoor plant?
Yes. It is a tropical plant that grows well indoors in bright, indirect light and warm temperatures.

Why is my false aralia dropping leaves?
False aralia dislikes sudden changes. Leaf drop usually follows a move, a cold draft, very dry soil or soil that stays too wet. Pick a spot, keep it steady and water evenly.

How fast does a false aralia grow?
Slowly to moderately. In bright light with steady watering it adds a few inches of height a year.
