About This Botanical

The String of Dolphins (Senecio peregrinus / Curio × peregrinus) is a delightful rare succulent hybrid of Senecio rowleyanus (String of Pearls) and Senecio articulatus. Each fleshy, curved leaf looks uncannily like a pod of tiny dolphins leaping through the air.

As stems grow, they cascade in long, lush curtains, creating an enchanting trailing effect in hanging planters or elevated shelf arrangements.

Botanical Care Essentials

Light Bright indirect light with some direct morning sun. Ample light maintains plump dolphin shape and prevents stretching.
Water Allow soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. Leaves will look slightly puckered when thirsty.
Humidity Low to average household humidity (30–45%). Ensure good air circulation.
Temperature 65°F to 80°F (18°C–27°C). Protect from cold drafts below 50°F.
Substrate Fast-draining cactus and succulent mix with pumice, perlite, and coarse sand.
⚠️ Pet Toxicity Notice: The ASPCA lists Senecio species as toxic to dogs and cats if ingested (contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids). Display in hanging planters away from pets.
