About This Botanical

Botanical name: Epiphyllum anguliger 'Ric Rac' (fishbone cactus, zig zag cactus)

An epiphytic cactus, not a desert cactus. Its flat, zig-zag stems look like a fishbone. It grows in bright filtered light and needs more moisture than desert cacti.

How to care for fishbone cactus

  • Light: bright, filtered light, with a few hours of direct sun. Strong direct sun burns it.
  • Water: water when the top 2 to 3 inches of soil are dry, and soak thoroughly. Do not let it dry out completely. Use tepid water.
  • Humidity: 40 to 60%.
  • Temperature: 60 to 78°F. Keep above 60°F during the growing season.
  • Soil: airy, fast-draining mix in a pot with drainage holes.
Care sources: Monrovia, Fishbone Cactus; Healthy Houseplants, Epiphyllum anguliger.

Shipped alive in a 4" nursery pot. See our Live Arrival Guarantee.
